Biography
Matthias Guntner was born on August 21, 2002, in Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria. He took his first piano lessons at the age of seven and studied under pianist Stefan Gurtner from 2015 to 2021. When he was 15, his teacher introduced him to Till Alexander Körber, professor at Anton Bruckner University in Linz, who became his mentor in composition and music theory between 2017 and 2021.
At 16, Guntner gained his first experience as a soundtrack composer as a member of Österreichischer Filmkreis, where he stills serves as a board member up to this day.
After graduating from school and a year of community service, he began studying composition and music theory with Dietmar Schermann at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2021. He currently specializes in film music composition with Walter Werzowa, the composer of the famous 'Intel Bong', while also pursuing business studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
In 2024, Guntner composed music for Red Bull Media House, recorded at the prestigious Synchron Stage in Vienna. Other collaborations include the Vienna Symphonic Library, Beyond Skyrim, and ArdaCraft.

2024: Winner of the Alba Rosa Viëtor composition competition in Amsterdam
2021: 1st price at the 2nd International Balsys composition competition in Vilnius (Lithuania)
2021: 2nd price at the composition competition "Beethovenjahr 2020", initiated by the Composer's Association of Upper-Austria (OÖKB)
2020: 2nd price at national "Jugend komponiert" composition competition
2019: Dr. Josef Ratzenböck promotion prize in composition by the State of Upper Austria (Dr. Josef Ratzenböck-Stipendium in Komposition)
